MotherDuck has (officially) landed in Europe!

We have some exciting news: MotherDuck has officially landed in Europe, and we are thrilled to be an official launch partner for their expansion.

For any company operating in the EU, this is a big deal. MotherDuck offers fast, efficient, and serverless data warehousing built on DuckDB, with all data and operations running entirely within the EU. This means no cross-Atlantic data movement and no extra latency, just exceptionally fast analytics for your business intelligence dashboards and customer-facing applications.

We're already seeing European companies like Trunkrs, one of the Netherlands' fastest-growing courier services, leverage MotherDuck for sub-second queries without the cost and complexity of large distributed systems.

dlt & MotherDuck: Native Support for DuckLake

As part of this launch, we're announcing our own contribution: dlt now supports loading data into DuckLake, Ducklabs open table format. This combination unlocks a powerful, modern data stack. Here’s how it works.

You have two primary ways to load your data with dlt:

  1. Managed Loading via MotherDuck: The simplest approach is to use MotherDuck’s own engine to write your data. In this setup, dlt sends the data to MotherDuck, which then efficiently loads it into your DuckLake tables. It’s a seamless, hands-off way to get data into your lakehouse. Try it here.
  2. Direct Loading via dlt: For those who need more control or run self-hosted environments, dlt can also load data directly to DuckLake. Our new native ducklake destination supports several backends for your metadata catalog. As of today, you can use dlt for direct loading with DuckDB, SQLite, Postgres, and alpha support fo MySQL. MotherDuck catalog support coming next. Try it here

Get On the Waitlist
