HCL Commerce provides a set of REST APIs for managing e-commerce store resources, sessions, and user identities. The REST API base URL is https://<hostname>:<port>/wcs/resources and supports HTTP Basic authentication or token-based authentication using custom headers WCToken and WCTrustedToken.
dlt is an open-source Python library that handles authentication, pagination, and schema evolution automatically. dlthub provides AI context files that enable code assistants to generate production-ready pipelines. What data can I load from HCL Commerce?

How do I authenticate with the HCL Commerce API?
Authentication is performed by obtaining tokens (WCToken and WCTrustedToken) via identity services (loginidentity, guestidentity, or ltpaidentity) and passing them in request headers, or by using HTTP Basic authentication with an 'Authorization' header containing a Base64-encoded 'username
' string. HTTPS requests generally require both WCToken and WCTrustedToken headers, while HTTP requests may use only WCToken.1. Get your credentials
HCL Commerce does not utilize a single 'API Key' setup via a central dashboard for REST API access. Instead, authentication is performed via identity services. To obtain credentials for programmatic access: 1) Identify your target environment's authentication endpoint (typically /loginidentity or /guestidentity). 2) For registered users, send a POST request with the user's login ID and password to the /loginidentity service to retrieve a WCToken (or LTPA token). 3) For guest access, use the /guestidentity service to create a session identity. 4) Use the returned token in the 'WCToken' header (or 'Authorization' header for basic authentication) for all subsequent API requests.

How do I set up and run the pipeline?
Set up a virtual environment and install dlt:

3. Start LLM-assisted coding:
Use /find-source to load data from the HCL Commerce API into DuckDB.
The rest-api-pipeline toolkit takes over from here — it reads relevant API documentation, presents you with options for which endpoints to load, and follows a structured workflow to scaffold, debug, and validate the pipeline step by step.
4. Run the pipeline:

This opens the Pipeline Dashboard where you can verify pipeline state, load metrics, schema (tables, columns, types), and query the loaded data directly.

This example loads loginidentity and guestidentity from the HCL Commerce API into DuckDB. It mirrors the endpoint and data selector configuration from the table above:

To add more endpoints, append entries from the resource table to the "resources" list using the same name, path, and data_selector pattern.
How do I query the loaded data?
Once the pipeline runs, dlt creates one table per resource. You can query with Python or SQL.
Python (pandas DataFrame):
