How do I authenticate with the Microsoft Graph API?

All API requests require an Authorization header with a Bearer token, which is obtained via the Microsoft identity platform using OAuth 2.0 flows. The format is 'Authorization: Bearer {access_token}'.

1. Get your credentials

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center (https://entra.microsoft.com). 2. Navigate to 'Identity' > 'Applications' > 'App registrations' and select 'New registration'. 3. Provide a name, select account types, and click 'Register'. 4. Once registered, copy the 'Application (client) ID' and 'Directory (tenant) ID' from the 'Overview' page. 5. In the left navigation, select 'API permissions', click 'Add a permission', select 'Microsoft Graph', choose 'Application permissions', select the required permissions (e.g., 'User.Read.All'), and click 'Grant admin consent for...'. 6. Navigate to 'Certificates & secrets' under 'Manage', select 'New client secret', add a description and duration, then click 'Add'. 7. Copy the client secret value immediately, as it will not be displayed again.

How do I load only new Microsoft Graph records?

Microsoft Graph exposes @odata.nextLink on users, so dlt can request only the records that changed since the last run. Set it as the cursor_path and dlt tracks the high-water mark for you between runs.
